Putting money into household appliances is not my idea of a super fun situation.
However, it is necessary and important.
That’s why I do my best to understand what it is I am buying. Just going out to buy an appliance like an HVAC is not what I am about. I like to take my time, learn what I can and understand my options. We recently replaced our HVAC after the old one died. The old HVAC went over 20 years so you won’t hear any complaining from me. Fortunately, the HVAC professional who does the service and maintenance on the heating & cooling unit gave me a year’s head start. This was key as I was able to speak with an HVAC contractor, look online and do the research. After all of that, I was able to make an informed decision and we have a great HVAC unit as a result. However, there is more to it than that. Once I have the HVAC replacement, it is up to me to be sure that I am doing all I can to take care of it. Of course, I signed us up for the semi annual HVAC maintenance program. This is a no brainer because I certainly want to get the most value from the investment in the new HVAC. But, I also make sure that I am doing my part. That means changing the air filters every single month. I make sure all the vents are open and unobstructed. And, I prevent weeds or debris from interfering with the outside HVAC cabinet.
